Race, Resistance, and Community | Confronting inequality across the U.S. and here in Greater Hartford

In this national moment, join us for a discussion with Dr. Peniel Joseph and Jay Williams on the roots of racism and inequality in our nation, the history of resistance movements, and specifically how inequality manifests in our Greater Hartford community today.

Dr. Peniel Joseph is professor and founding director of the LBJ School’s Center for the Study of Race and Democracy at The University of Texas at Austin, as well as the founder of Tufts University’s Center for the Study of Race and Democracy

Jay Williams is the president of the Hartford Foundation for Public Giving, leading the Foundation’s efforts to address disparities in our community based on race/ethnicity, place and income in order to make opportunities more available to everyone. Jay is also the former U.S. Assistant Secretary of Commerce for Economic Development and Mayor of the City of Youngstown, Ohio.
