While this year may look at little different, the World Affairs Council of Connecticut continues to bring students across the state the same high quality topics and debate – now in a virtual format for the 2020 CTWAC Model UN!
United Nations Tours and Briefings: Each student will be able to participate in a virtual UN tour and briefing set up by CTWAC.
Position Papers and Resolutions: Students will submit position papers that will be posted as blogs on the CTWAC website. This is to allow delegates to interact with each other prior to debate. Resolutions are optional and the top resolutions will be sent to all participants in the committee (via google docs) to be reviewed prior to debate.
Topics:
Disarmament and International Security | Security During a Pandemic
Economic and Financial | Building Economic Equity in Post-crisis Scenarios
Social, Humanitarian, and Cultural | Modern Slavery
World Health Organization | Vaccine distribution and access
Food and Agricultural Organization | Sustainable Food and Agriculture
Historical Crisis Committee | Battle of Thermopylae
Security Council
Participation: Due to size limitations in the virtual format, we will allow teams of students only up to 2. Students can participate through their school club, but if your school does not have a club this year, students may participate individually or on teams of up to 2 individual students per committee. You will indicate this when registering.
