The Council’s education programs engage students across Connecticut, from public schools to private schools, home-schools to parochial schools. If you have an interest in current events, global engagement, or making the world a better place, we have an opportunity for you. Here you will find access to any resources you may need for Model United Nations, student awards, scholarship opportunities, and more!
MODEL UNITED NATIONS
Interested in learning about global affairs, debating some of the world’s most pressing issues, and negotiating resolutions to seemingly unsolvable problems? Every year, over 1,000 high school students across CT come together to do just that through our Model United Nations (MUN) program.
If you’re interested in finding out more information about the program, visit our Model United Nations page here.
SCHOLARSHIPS & AWARDS
Model United Nations Scholarship
The World Affairs Council offers scholarships for high school students who demonstrate need for financial assistance to participate in the Council’s Model United Nations. Scholarships are awarded based on the quality of the applicant’s short essay, his or her availability to participate in the required events, and one letter of recommendation. If you have any questions, feel free to contact Education Manager Daibhidh Stewart at dstewart@ctwac.org.
Connecticut Certificate of Global Engagement
The Connecticut Certificate of Global Engagement (CTCGE) is recognized by the State Board of Education and implemented at the district level. The CTCGE was established to recognize public high school graduates who have successfully completed a global education curriculum and engaged in co-curricular activities and experiences that fostered the development of global competencies and global citizenship
Students: If you are interested, ask your teacher or counselors office to see if your school offers the certificate.
COUNCIL YOUTH AMBASSADORS
Applications are now open for high school students interested in global affairs, leadership, and making an impact in their community.
