Masood Khan | Ambassador of Pakistan to the U.S.  \nAmbassador Masood Khan is currently serving as Pakistan’s Ambassador to the United States. He was the President of Azad Jammu and Kashmir from August 2016 to August 2021. Immediately before becoming the President he was the Director General of the Institute of Strategic Studies Islamabad\, one of the top think tanks in Pakistan. Ambassador Masood Khan had a distinguished diplomatic career. Most notably\, he served as: \n\nSpokesman of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs from 2003 to 2005;\nPakistan’s Ambassador and Permanent Representative to the United Nations and other International Organizations in Geneva\, Switzerland\, from 2005 to 2008;\nPakistan’s Ambassador to China from 2008 to 2012; and\nPakistan’s Ambassador and Permanent Representative to the United Nations Headquarters\, New York\, from 2012 to 2015.\n\nIn his earlier diplomatic career\, he held important diplomatic positions in China\, The Netherlands\, United Nations (New York) and the USA (Washington D.C. from 1997 to 2002). \nAmbassador Masood Khan also remained Pakistan’s Chief Negotiator (Sherpa) for the US-led Nuclear Security Summits\, from 2009 to 2015. \nRead Ambassador Khan’s full bio here.  \n\nAbout the Moderator\nAsma Farid \nAsma is the Vice-President and Managing Partner of Edible brands\, LLC.\, the parent company of the international franchise company Edible Arrangements among other technology\, supply chain and real estate brands. \nAsma Farid was born and raised in Pakistan before moving to Connecticut in 2005. She currently serves on the board for the World Affairs Council of Connecticut and World Affairs Council of Atlanta. \nAdditionally\, she serves on the board of New American Pathways\, which is an Atlanta based nonprofit with the mission to help refugees become welcomed members of Georgia communities. She has previously served on the board of Connecticut’s Integrated Refugee and Immigrant Services (IRIS). She was honored in 2019 on Connecticut Immigrant Day for her contributions and dedication to the state. \nIn 2013\, Asma and her husband Tariq founded The Tariq & Asma Farid Foundation\, a philanthropic non-profit that works to provide the basic needs of food and healthcare as well as improve lives through the support of education and skill development opportunities. The foundation currently operates a free hospital in Pakistan that treats about 100 patients a day\, hosts free eye clinics and distributes food ration packets to the needy every month. \nIn honor of their philanthropic efforts\, Asma and Tariq were recipients of the 2017 Anti-Defamation League Greater New Haven Torch of Liberty Award. \nIn 2019\, Asma and Tariq moved their family from North Haven\, Connecticut to Atlanta\, Georgia. Asma looks forward to not only continuing to give back to the state of Connecticut\, but to also get more involved with philanthropy in her new home state of Georgia.
