SUMMARY:FORCED OUT! From Conflict to Connecticut: The Story of Refugees in CT
DESCRIPTION:About 70\,000 refugees are relocated in the U.S. each year.\n Currently\, there are 28\,000 refugees living in CT.\n Most refugees in CT are from: Iraq\,Somalia\, Burma\, Bhutan\nLearn about refugees in your local community! For the millions of refugees who flee their home nations each year\, the struggles and challenges do not end once they arrive in the U.S. Refugees admitted to the U.S. must receive the help of an agency to navigate housing and employment while breaking down language and cultural barriers. Chris George\, Executive Director Integrated Refugee & Immigrant Services (IRIS)\, will speak about the challenges that refugees face when resettling here in our own local communities!\nTake Action– IRIS will also be collecting winter clothing for refugees and accepting donations! IRIS\, the International Institute of Connecticut\, and Hartford’s NEW Committee on Refugees and Immigrants will have information on how to help refugees in your community!\nClick here for a University of Saint Joseph campus map.
